Voted the “Best of the South” for years by Southern Living Magazine, and a favorite of the late Lewis Grizzard, the Blue Willow Inn Restaurant is divine.
For a true Southern dining experience, there is no place on earth that can offer it up as the Blue Willow Inn Restaurant in Social Circle, Georgia. Every time a patron enters the formal hall of the majestic Greek Revival Mansion, the antebellum tradition of dining with the atmosphere overtakes the senses. There are authentic period antiques and blue willow pieces displayed throughout the mansion.
The feeling continues with the elegantly appointed dining rooms that are reminiscent of the glorious South. Guests are served on the famous Blue Willow china plates and offered impeccable food choices where seconds and thirds are encouraged. From the southern fried chicken to the nationally acclaimed fried green tomatoes, no one will ever leave hungry.
Lewis Grizzard Room
Lewis Grizzard was the famous Atlanta columnist who was syndicated nationally for his legendary column on life in the South. Grizzard gave the Blue Willow his absolute highest mark for a restaurant, that being “5 bowls of turnip greens.” Today, at the Blue Willow, there is a dining room named after the popular writer.
Lewis Grizzard was not the only champion of the Blue Willow Inn. The restaurant has received awards and accolades from prominent magazines such as Southern Living, A Taste of Home, Gourmet Magazine, USA Today, and Food & Wine Magazine, among many others. These publications have established the Blue Willow Inn and the finest Southern Cooking restaurant in the world. Other dining rooms include the Blue Room and the Savannah Room.
Food and the Buffet at the Blue Willow Inn
This is definitely not your chain style canned buffet steam table. The food line of delights is served up in style in silver chafing dishes that is usually found in the finest of country clubs. Every dish served is an authentic southern style. The dessert table features cakes, pies, and everything that is southern and homemade.
After dining, you are not rushed out as soon as the check is paid. Instead, guests are encouraged to linger and rock in the oversized rockers on the broad front porch or simply relax next to the pool with the lulling sounds of the fountains. Visitors should also check out the Blue Willow Inn Gift Shop for special gifts and mementos that are predominantly Southern and would be hard to find elsewhere.
