Georgia Camping Guide

Our Camping Guide comes from our years of experience camping in Georgia to Virginia.  Over time, we have learned through trial and error, what works and does not.  This site lists basic camping skills, information on the different camping sites, and general information you can use on your camping trips.

Depending on your camping skill level, you can find answers to questions such as:

  • Do I need a Popup camper or a tent?
  • How do I pick the right campsite?
  • How do I make the most out of a camping vacation?
  • What equipment do I need to take on my trip?

Not sure about what camping types are out there?  Click on the “TYPES” button to see the tents, small camping trailers, and many more choices.   This gives you a basic idea of how you will want to visit the great outdoors.

When bringing along the family for the adventure, be sure to check out the Camping Activities page.  There you can find an activity that fits right in with your plans.  There are simple games that can be played or make yourself for little to no cost.  Remember, you will be under a night sky where you can sing songs, tell stories or just stargaze, and everyone can enjoy these activities.

Organizing for a safe and well-planned adventure will be easier when using a camping checklist.   We have developed a checklist for each of the various types of camping, assuring that you will have essential outdoor camping gear for your trip. Knowing exactly what you need allows you to purchase higher-quality items that will last.

The cooking equipment and supplies that are needed will depend on what type of camping you do as well as what type of cooking that will be done.  Learn about the various ways to prepare Camping meals, meals that are just as delicious as those at home.   Learn how to do the different types of cooking at your site and all the different recipes available. This is a basic step in survival camping.

Once you know what type of camping you want to do, the next step is to find the right campground, in the right spot, for your adventure.   This site has information right on the site, set up and camping equipment you will need to make your experience more memorable. Visit the “GUIDE” page for all of the camping basics.  This will be vitally important if you are survival camping.

Different Types of Camping

Camping World discusses all of the different types of camping available to you. We have personally tried many of the types listed on this page and most worked out well for us. Click on any of the links below to learn about any type that interests you.  The important part of outdoor camping is knowing what to expect.

Backpacking

For a true sense of roughing it, hiking, or as it is more commonly known, Backpacking Camping has its own set of rules. Enjoy the great outdoors while getting in shape at the same time.

Motorcycle Camping

If you own a motorcycle, the type of camping trailers ready to roll behind your ride can be simple to first-class.   Motorcycle Camping trailers can get you to many campsites quickly and the setup of these style campers can be done in 15 minutes or less.

Tent Camping

Tent Camping offers the widest selection to fit just yourself, two people, or an entire family.  Today’s tents, regardless of size, set up in minutes and last many years longer than they used to.  Camping in the outdoor world can be a reality with a family-sized tent.

Truck Camping

Many small and large Vans can be converted for camping whether by yourself or have it done.  The other method is Truck Camping by adding a fitted truck tent that is ready to set up in just minutes.  Truck Tents are a great way to go without the hassle of finding just the right campsite.

Pop-up camper trailers are the nearest you can get to a high-dollar camping trailer and still enjoy many of the same conveniences.

Specialty camping

There are many types of specialty camping out there for one, two, or the entire family.  Feeling adventurous?  Try a trip on the wild side with Kayak or Canoe-camping.  If that is a little too fast, slow down by taking the family on a Horse Camping adventure.

If you want to push the limits of camping by yourself or with close friends, then that ultimate challenge is outdoor Camping Survival.   Wilderness survival is the absolute extreme end of the camping scale.

Since there is a world of possibilities, obviously we have not listed all of them.
