Famous statues, sculptures, monuments, landmarks, and roadside attractions in Georgia. There are some great roadside attractions, statues, sculptures, landmarks, and monuments located in the Peach Tree State of Georgia. A number of these landmarks are billed as the largest in the world including the largest chicken in the world, the largest peanut in the world, and the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world.

Stone Mountain in Georgia

Stone Mountain is a huge exposed mountain of granite quartz located in north-central Georgia in the town of Stone Mountain. Carved into the north face of the huge exposed mountain granite rock are the figures of three Confederate heroes Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis all on horseback. The sculpture carvings are the largest bas-relief sculptures in the world. Visitors can hike to the top of Stone Mountain or take a cable car Skyride to the top that passes the sculptures in the rock face.

Rock Eagle Effigy Mound in Eatonton

Some 3,000 years ago Native Americans living in Eatonton, Georgia area created a large rock eagle effigy earthwork in which they laid thousands of white quartz rocks down into the form of an eagle. This unique landmark creation is 120 feet long from head to tail and 102 feet long from wingtip to wingtip. Brer Rabbit in Eatonton

Eatonton, Georgia was the birthplace of Joel Chandler Harris who created the popular Uncle Remus stories. Right on the courthouse lawn in downtown Eatonton is a statue of the most popular of Chandler’s Uncle Remus characters Brer Rabbit who survived using his wit, courage, and cunning.

Big Chicken or Largest Chicken in the World in Marietta

Located on the corner of Highway 120 and US 41 is the 56 foot tall Big Chicken billed as the Largest Chicken in the World. The Big Chicken was designed as a publicity stunt for owner Tubby Davis’ fast food joint. The eyes of the Big Chicken rotate and its beak opens and closes. Tubby’s fast food joint is gone today but the current owner of the building is KFC who refurbished the Big Chicken in 1993 and today it remains a landmark roadside attraction in Georgia.

Largest Peanut in the World in Ashburn, Georgia

Ashburn, Georgia is known as the Peanut Capital of the World and located on Sylvia Drive in Ashburn is a statue of the largest peanut in the world. The peanut statue or monument can be seen from Interstate 75 just south of exit 82 on the west side of the highway.
