First incorporated in 1910 and reincorporated in 1955, Lilburn lies northeast of Atlanta in Gwinnett County. The CSX Railroad runs through the south part of town, which is home to 12 public schools. One of the city’s most colorful areas is Old Town Lilburn, a strip of antique shops, craft stores, and gift shops located within historic buildings. Old Town stands in sharp contrast to new subdivisions that have been built within the city. Except for some isolated pieces of land, most open spaces have been developed, so the town probably will see little growth over the ensuing years.
