One of our favorite kid’s attractions is the new SkyHike where you can test your hiking skills on different levels from 12 to 40 feet above the ground. You can test your balance skills while crossing a single rope bridge high up while secured by an overhead safety system. Skyhike in Stone Mountain Park is one of the coolest and fun things to do with your kids in Atlanta!
Visit Sky Hike at Stone Mountain Park and trek through the treetops on one of the nation’s largest family adventure courses. Explore the quarter of a mile course master suspended wooden bridges. Leap from one wooden slat to another. The balance on a single rope high above the ground. Or climb to the top on vertical net bridges.
Visitors pick from a 12 ft. trail for beginners, a 24 ft. high trail for the somewhat courageous, and the super challenge trail at nearly 40 ft. in the air (four stories high), for the true daredevils.
Who wouldn’t want to take a high-speed cable car ride on Summit Skyride to the top of Stone Mountain? This high-speed Swiss cable car provides a stunning view of the Confederate Memorial Carving as it transports guests more than 825 feet above ground to the top of Stone Mountain in only three minutes. On a clear day visitors can see Kennesaw Mountain, the Appalachian Mountains, and majestic views of Downtown and Midtown Atlanta.
All Aboard the Scenic Railroad
Climb aboard the train with a full-size locomotive from the 1940s with open-air cars that takes visitors on a lively five-mile excursion around the mountain. The train provides a great opportunity to marvel at beautiful views of Stone Mountain and the surrounding landscape.
The train experience includes exciting tales of real-life train adventures as told by conductor Fire Box Floyd. The train can be boarded from Memorial Depot in Crossroads.
Antebellum Plantation at Stone Mountain Park
The Antebellum Plantation at Stone Mountain Park is a collection of original buildings from around Georgia, built between 1783 and 1875. Each structure was moved from its original site and carefully restored to preserve its authenticity and historical value.
This fascinating area also houses the most extensive collection of period furniture and decorations in the south, reflecting the diverse lifestyles of 18th and 19th century Georgia residents. Take a self-guided tour and enjoy the sights and smells of the working cookhouse and garden where demonstrators preserve the timeless traditions of the South.
Be sure to visit the Farmyard where kids can pet the animals, work with our trainers to learn about animal behavior, and come to understand the role of livestock in early Georgia life.
Don’t Miss the World’s Longest Running Laser Show
Conclude the day with the 40-minute-long Laser show Spectacular. It is the world’s longest-running laser show. Without a doubt, the Stone Mountain Laser Show is one of the most entertaining attractions in all of Atlanta. This musically choreographed state-of-the-art graphics showcase starts around dusk each night. The show ends with an impressive fireworks finale.
